You moved into a house with an existing security system
Sometimes when you close on a home, a security system is already installed. All the alarms and cameras work, are installed in the correct areas, and are ready to go. In this case, you might find that you have to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still come out to make sure there are no usability problems, and they might offer options on upgrades. It's a preliminary appointment, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new components -- unless you add on.
The outgoing homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer cost to make the process easier. If the owners are downsizing to an apartment complex or smaller home, turning over the home security contract might be a condition of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your old devices with you
You may want to bring along your old smart devices with you to a new place when you move. That’s pretty easy to accomplish, as many components are portable. You can take down each component yourself or use a Vivint installer to come and take down everything. Then our installers will hang the same features -- and any additions you want to put in -- in your new home. The home security contract will stay the same.
